I was watching a playthrough of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos the other week and I noticed they gave him a tiny little backpack to store his shit in. But, to be honest, a lot of them at least try to sort of explain it. I’m going to get really into this point in part 7. Similarly, this would explain the respawn of enemies and Spyro. At least, until they’re digested by Sparx. This will be revisited in number 7, but consider that a lot of creatures, including sheep and more puzzlingly, mushrooms, when attacked by Spyro will not exactly die, but instead change into butterflies. Reincarnation is extremely common and fast in the Spyro universe. He’s just a bit of a dick and pretends he can’t fly because he likes to watch you suffer.ģ. So that sort of throws the whole fairies helping him fly theory out of the window. Which, considering the presence of fairies in the game, is entirely possible, but they are never present when he flies like this and it can be observed that to give him extra (temporary) powers, they must kiss him first, or to help him reach other places, three of them must carry him. It’s like he’s flying on magic or something. Not only that, but in flight-based challenge levels, he can fly in any direction without falling and he can stay in the air for more than a few minutes like that. When flying to different levels, Spyro can fly perfectly, like a damn pro. He’s always going down.Įxcept for sometimes, when he flies for ages without losing altitude or flapping his wings more than twice a minute. He has these adorable little wings that let him stay in the air for a little while, at least long enough to allow him to travel to different podiums and areas within levels, though he cannot fly upwards without the aid of a whirlwind, and he cannot maintain one altitude.

He never eats – or sleeps, for that matter, but I suppose if your blood has been replaced with caffeine, you wouldn’t need to. He’s a dragon on a mission and he gets shit done. And it doesn’t matter how many things he crashes into, he won’t ever be concussed or even a little confused. Spyro can charge non-stop for as long as he wants and will never become tired, as long as he doesn’t bash into anything to stop his flow. He shakes off a broken neck.īut it’s not just his strength that is abnormal. Spyro falls on his butt and shakes it off. If you tried this, you would likely no longer have a neck. Not to mention, he can brush off almost anything, including speeding head-first into a wall at extremely high speeds.

And he’s always talking to the elder dragons about when he’s ‘big and strong, like you’, but to be honest, if he gets any stronger he runs the risk of becoming a super villain, because I’m not sure anyone could handle that much strength without getting pretty full of themselves, or becoming governor of a foreign land, like California. He’s literally tiny, he’s about 1/5 of the size of the elder dragons (and most enemies) he sees, if that, and his dragonfly companion, Sparx, is only about 1/3 of the length of Spyro. Spyro has endless stamin and insane strength. Here are 7 things you never noticed about Spyro the Dragon.ġ.

So I started thinking and realised that I could read a lot deeper into this game than any rational human ever would and create my very own fan theory, which mainly comes to light in number 7.

I’ve been watching a playthrough of Spyro the Dragon (1998) these past few days and other than marveling over what an absolute gem it still is, there were a couple of things I started to pick up on – mainly because I have this ridiculous super power, which is to see the darkness in absolutely everything.
